I Guess He Wasn’t Faking

From Dwight comes word that Amado Pardo, Austin Restaurateur, convicted murderer, Democratic fundraiser, and accused heroin dealer has died. Last week I reported that he was in a coma and released to hospice care.

Obviously he won’t stand trial February 11 on the heroin distribution ring charges he was facing (though his wife has already plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance).

Funny thing? No mention at the link at Dwight’s site to the ‘Statesman’ of Prado’s connection and affiliation to ‘organized crime’, aka the Democrat Party.

True that. The Statesman did go into more detail about Pardo’s ties to the Democratic Party in this piece from last July, but you’re right that it goes unmentioned in the obit.

Also interesting to me: from the July article, “… he appeared to have overcome his criminal past to become a community leader, a successful businessman and a strong patriarch to his large family.”

From yesterday’s obit: ” …he appeared to have overcome his criminal past to become a community leader, a successful businessman and a strong patriarch to his large family.”

Those two articles were written by different people, by the way. It almost sounds like someone was putting words in someone’s mouth, a la “I loved it. It was better than *Cats*.”
