Instead of going out and doing the heavy lifting myself on a Texas vs. California update, Victor Davis Hanson [[Corrected. - LP]] has done another of his California is totally screwed pieces, and it’s a cornucopia of facts on California’s decline.

Racist Latino gangs are now driving black families straight out of Compton
“Hundreds of thousands of the working and upper-middle class, mostly from the interior of the state, have fled — maybe four million in all over the last thirty years, taking with them $1 trillion in capital and income-producing education and expertise. Apparently, they tired of high taxes, poor schools, crime, and the culture of serial blame-gaming and victimhood.”
“One of every three welfare recipients lives in California.”

Liberals are racists.
Big-spending Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez recalled from office by an almost 9-1 ratio. Alvarez was a RINO that acted like a full-bore Democrat, hiking property taxes and giving big pay raises to unionized public employees. (hat tip: Dwight.)
In New York, unions protect state employees who sexually abuse the mentally handicapped, even when they know they’re guilty. “That’s our job.”
A word on the media’s amazingly poor understanding of nuclear reactors.

What the hell is going on in Libya? Good question. Moammar Gadhafi isn’t having any of that foolish “Democracy” talk, as clashes have left over 200 dead in Libya’s second-largest city. I don’t think Gadhafi will hesitate to slaughter protesters if he thinks he has to, and unless they can flip someone high up in the military against him, it’s tough to see them managing to oust him.
What’s the proper way to great a wheelchair-bound Iraqi veteran who spent two years recovering from wounds received fighting for his country? According to liberals at Columbia University, it’s booing, hissing, or calling him a racist.
And speaking of racism, AlterNet called Godfather’s Pizza founder Herman Cain a “a monkey in the window” for daring to be a black conservative.
An speaking of liberal racism, Ohio Democratic Representative Robert F. Hagan called a black Tea Party supporter “Buckwheat.”
