Blogroll Updates

Wednesday, May 15th, 2019

I’ve gotten behind in cultivating my blogroll, so here’s some much-needed planting and pruning:

Additions

  • No Lawyers, Only Guns And Money: Gun blog. Karl Rehn recommended them, and they’ve had a lot of good information on the NRA issues I’ve been covering.
  • Quillette: Meaty pieces of interest from academics opposed to the Social Justice Warrior agenda.
  • Tablet: News from a Jewish perspective. In Foreign Policy because it offers a lot of good information on Arab-Israeli topics.
  • Subtractions

  • Creeping Sahria: Gone.
  • Michael Totten: World Affairs Journal shut down after their sponsor died.
  • PushJunction: Gone.
  • Sipsy Street Irregulars: Stopped updating in 2016.
  • Mickey Kaus Resigns From Daily Caller, Sets Up Own Site

    Saturday, March 28th, 2015

If you hadn’t heard, Mickey Kaus resigned from the Daily Caller over them spiking a piece that slammed Fox News for supporting illegal alien amnesty.

Kaus is now blogging at his own site http://kausfiles.com/.

    Update your bookmarks accordingly.

    Blogroll Addition: Pension Tsunami

    Wednesday, October 15th, 2014

Since they linked to me yesterday, I’ve finally done what I’ve meant to do for a long time, namely get up off my ass and add Pension Tsunami to the Blogroll. They offer a great daily news roundup on the looming unionized public sector pension crisis that threatens to bankrupt cities and states across the country (especially California).

I’ve also added the new “California/Pensions/Unions/Etc.” link category and moved Kausfiles there as well.

Expect more additions to that blog category Real Soon Now.

    Blogroll Cleaning

    Thursday, January 2nd, 2014

It’s a new year, so here are a few long-overdue administrative updates to the blogroll.

  • Added Texas Conservative Republican News.
  • Removed Urban Grounds, since Robbie Cooper hung up his blogging gloves.
  • Removed Matt S. Dowling, because one post in the last year isn’t cutting it. Sorry, Matt…
  • Updated the link for An American Housewife.
  • Updated the link to SooperMexican.
  • Other notes:

  • I was going to add Sibyl West’s Ramparts 360, but she seems to have dropped off the map.
  • I would add Cahnman’s Musings, except he still hasn’t put up a blogroll…
  • Any Texas blogs I’m missing you think should be up here?

A Good List of Conservative Texas Blogs

    Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

This list of conservative blogs in Texas is well worth taking a look at. For starters, I’m in there, which means it passes the first-cut test.

I hope to take a good look at all of these when I have some time with an eye toward updating the blogroll.

    Syria and Guns

    Thursday, November 29th, 2012

    OK. Thanksgiving break over.

I’ve come across a couple of blogs from the world of international conflict you may want to take a look at:

  • Brown Moses tracks developments in the Syrian civil War, with a special focus on the ordinance expended and captured there.
  • The Gun follows the more general word of international military arms, including transfer and use in combat.
  • Both are worth checking out.

    Updating the Blogroll

    Wednesday, June 13th, 2012

For some reason, I feel a lot more braindead than usual after a one hour bike ride, so today seems like an excellent day to perform that long-contemplated update of the blogroll.

    Today’s additions:

  • Rick Perry vs. the World: You might previously remember Evan from Texas Iconoclast, a local political aggregator until it went into hibernation earlier this year. Now he’s back blogging at this, his original blog. Well worth a look for Texas politics. And speaking of a local political aggregators:
  • Push Junction offers up a forest of Texas political links. Don’t know who runs it, but I’ve grabbed many a link from it.
  • More Lane: National blogger and indefatigable tweeter. He also turns out to share my affection for Peter Gabriel and Ogre (the board game), so he’s obviously a man of taste and discernment…
  • Ann Althouse: Another national blogger I’d frequently read when linked from Instapundit, but one who was absolutely essential for Wisconsin Recall coverage.
  • Michelle Malkin: Still another national blogger I’d read when linked by Instapundit, but more recently she’s not only been a driving force to expose convicted felon Brett Kimberlin, she’s also the Queen of the Conservative Twitterverse, which lead her to launch Twitchy, a Twitter roundup blog, which is also worth checking out.
  • Finally, please note that Blue Dot Blues has moved.

    Blogroll Additions: UrbanGrounds

    Saturday, February 11th, 2012

The latest blogroll addition is UrbanGrounds written by Robbie Cooper, “a conservative, a biker, a Veteran, a professional writer, and a blogging enthusiast in the heart of uber-Liberal Austin, TX.” It has a nice mix of local and national news that’s well worth checking out.

    LinkSwarm for June 3

    Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

A handful of links you may find of interest:

CHL carriers get an express lane through Texas State Capitol Security. This is a testament to how effective the CHL program has been.

    Catholic Bishop killed in Turkey.

George Will on the conflict between the limited government of the founders and Progressivism’s vision of unlimited government power to meet an ever-expanding array of material “needs.”

Victor David Hanson on Europeans waking up to History returning to Europe, “from Mediterranean insolvency, to the threat of radical Islam, to demographic decline, to new international dangers on the horizon.” But I’m guessing Europeans will hit the snooze button a few more times before they will bother to rouse themselves from their slumber. And by then it may be too late.

A statement of the obvious, sure to infuriate those on the left: “The U.S. can’t afford to provide everyone with food, clothing and shelter, not to mention medical and child care, college tuition, a low-interest mortgage and a Social Security check until death.”
