I suspect that some of the candidates had already scheduled vacation or break time following the original March primary date, so I expect things to pick up shortly. But Both Ted Cruz and David Dewhurst released ads mentioning their fathers:<\/p>\n<li>Ted Cruz has released two radio ads, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tedcruz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Ted-Cruz-Fighter.mp3\">one called &#8220;Fighter&#8221; <\/a> and the other &#8220;Delivered&#8221;:\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Xi6np4gt2Uo\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<li>Forbes columnist Louis Woodhill <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/louiswoodhill\/2012\/03\/14\/critiquing-ted-cruzs-economic-plan-the-next-great-conservative-hope\/\">looks at Ted Cruz&#8217;s economic program<\/a>. He generally likes them, but doesn&#8217;t go far enough in some areas, and goes to far in seeking entitlement reform. I agree with the former and disagree with the latter.\n<li>David Dewhurst poached in Tom Leppert&#8217;s backyard by snaring the endorsements of <a href=\"http:\/\/trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com\/archives\/2012\/03\/six-ex-dallas-county-gop-chair.html\">six former Dallas County GOP leaders<\/a>.\n<li>Dewhurst and Leppert both used <a href=\"http:\/\/hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com\/archives\/2012\/03\/bracketology-te.php\">the same March Madness Bracket Gag<\/a>.\n<li>Dewhurst also has a new TV ad mentioning his father&#8217;s WWII service:\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"274\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mL2FDFA8QKQ\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<li>Leppert <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.chron.com\/txpotomac\/2012\/03\/texas-should-send-a-businessman-to-u-s-senate-former-dallas-mayor-tom-leppert-says\/\">gets a profile<\/a> in the <i>Houston Chronicle<\/i>.\n<li>Robert T. Garrett in <i>The Dallas Morning news<\/i> says that <a href=\"http:\/\/trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com\/archives\/2012\/03\/post-38.html\">the &#8220;guilt by association&#8221; wars<\/a> between Cruz, Dewhurst, and Craig James is more than a little silly. Unless there&#8217;s more to the Tony Podesta story than the Cruz campaign has been able to bring forth, I tend to agree.\n<li>Garrett also examines <a href=\"http:\/\/trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com\/archives\/2012\/03\/redstate-may-link-dewhurst-to.html\">RedState&#8217;s comparison of Dewhurst to Charlie Crist<\/a>. Certainly I&#8217;ve done my share of criticizing Dewhurst, but I believe the comparison with Crist is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.battleswarmblog.com\/?p=6962\">largely unwarranted<\/a>.\n<li>James <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mywesttexas.com\/top_stories\/article_9b182815-e17f-5616-abc7-ccc5d1516b6c.html\">campaigns in Midland<\/a>.\n<li>He also seems to be doing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newswest9.com\/story\/17161302\/clinics-fear-for-future-as-womens-health-funds-cut\">something of a straddle<\/a> on the Texas Women&#8217;s Health Program issue:&#8221;I&#8217;m all for protecting life. I&#8217;m pro-life. I&#8217;m also for taking care of women and their health so there&#8217;s a balance somewhere in there, personal responsibility, and if they have a need for things, that they need to be able to take care of it themselves. If they can&#8217;t, then there needs to be a service to help them take care of their health issues.&#8221;\n<li>The Texas Tribune talks about Texas having a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/texas-politics\/2012-elections\/conservative-core-and-2012-primary-elections\/\">conservative core<\/a> of voters, and how that&#8217;s affecting the presidential and Senate races (among others). It&#8217;s actually not too bad as these things go, but I do wonder if anyone has ever done a similar profile on &#8220;extremely liberal&#8221; voters?\n<li>Finally, I still haven&#8217;t been able to meet with David Dewhurst or Craig James for interviews.
