{"id":8625,"date":"2011-10-11T07:00:19","date_gmt":"2011-10-11T12:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.battleswarmblog.com\/?p=8625"},"modified":"2011-12-17T12:34:05","modified_gmt":"2011-12-17T18:34:05","slug":"texas-senate-update-for-october-11-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.battleswarmblog.com\/?p=8625","title":{"rendered":"Texas Senate Race Update for October 11, 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<li>Ted Cruz got <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/ballot-box\/senate-races\/186315-values-voters-go-wild-for-cruz\">Lots<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2011\/10\/08\/is-ted-cruz-the-gop-2012-secret-weapon\/\">good press<\/a> for his appearance at the Family Research Council\u2019s Values Voter Summit:\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gUR16Lk-9Gk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<li>Cruz also picked up the endorsements of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tedcruz.org\/blog\/2011\/10\/06\/join-115-tfrw-leaders-in-supporting-ted-cruz\/\">over 115 leaders of the Texas Federation of Republican Women<\/a>.\n<li>David Dewhurst puts in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.statesman.com\/blogs\/content\/shared-gen\/blogs\/austin\/politics\/entries\/2011\/10\/03\/dewhurst_no_time_for_rookies.html?cxntfid=blogs_postcards\">apperance in Austin<\/a>.\n<li>He also toured <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daviddewhurst.com\/blog\/dewhurst-tours-anheuser-busch-brewery-houston\">the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Houston<\/a>. I&#8217;m not sure that Ye Olde Political Photo-Op is the best use of a candidate&#8217;s time in the 21st century.\n<li>Tom Leppert appeared at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomleppert.com\/_blog\/blog\/post\/Visiting_Grayson_County\/\">Grayson County Republicans&#8217; Fall Roundup in Sherman<\/a>, which strikes me as a better use of a candidate&#8217;s time in advance of a primary.\n<li>Elizabeth Ames Jones <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jonesfortexas.com\/Newsroom\/PressReleases.php?i=126\">delivered the keynote address at the National Energy Services Association meeting in Bastrop<\/a>. Which is probably good use of her time as Railroad Commissioner, but not effective at campaigning. With Cruz and Leppert campaigning full-time (and Dewhurst getting there), it&#8217;s hard to treat Jones as a serious candidate when she seems to put more effort into her day job, especially since she was already trailing so badly in buzz and fundraising.\n<li>There will be a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wethepeoplecan.com\/?p=448\">Senate Candidate forum in Tarrant County<\/a> Tuesday night starting 6:15 PM at the Richland Hills United Methodist Church at 7301 Glenview Drive, Richland Hills, 76180. Attending will be Cruz, Leppert, Jones, Glenn Addison, Andrew Castanuela, Curt Cleaver, and Lela Pittenger. Once again, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.battleswarmblog.com\/?p=8513\">Lt. Gov. Chupacabra<\/a> will be nowhere to be seen.\n<li>And speaking of people avoiding the limelight, this week Ricardo Sanchez&#8230;did absolutely nothing. <a href=\"http:\/\/hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com\/archives\/2011\/10\/what-we-learned-78.php\">Nattional Journal<\/a> says that his campaign has gotten of to &#8220;a slow start.&#8221; Actually, &#8220;slow&#8221; doesn&#8217;t really cover it.
