A small LinkSwarm this time out, as I was busy with Halloween and other stuff this week:

  • How many Americans will lose their coverage under ObamaCare? Would you believe 93 Millions? And those are Obama Administration estimates.
  • 30-something figures out he’ll be screwed by ObamaCare.
  • Awesome (real) image via David Freddoso on Twitter:

  • Obama Administration insists that inflation you see is just imaginary.

  • We have a winner for Worst Bath Salts Freakout Not Involving Face-Eating:

Not sure if this needs a language warning or not, since I don’t Crazy High Redneck.

  • I was out of town, so I missed this tiny race riot at Highland Mall. (Hat tip: UrbanGrounds)
  • Cool story of World War II bomber heroism.

  • No Content, Tanks

    Thursday, October 10th, 2013

Busy working on a book catalog, so here’s some low calorie Content Substitute in the form of M1A2 tanks blowing things up:

Also provides a distinct contrast in music, rap vs. (I think) Hans Zimmer…

Barack Obama is a Petty, Spiteful, Vindictive Little Creep

    Monday, October 7th, 2013

In the myriad actions the Obama Administration has undertaken in the wake of the government shutdown triggered by Harry Reid’s refusal to consider legislation duly and constitutionally passed by the house, it should now be obvious that it is the most spiteful, petty and vindictive presidential administration in history. It is one thing to play political hardball as part of the shutdown, it is quite another for Obama’s minions to go out of their way to inflict harm on innocent Americans because Obama isn’t getting his way.

    Consider:

  • Obama had the Park Service block off access to World War II and other veterans memorials despite the fact they’re normally open to the public. By erecting barricades that are not normally there, Democrats have insulted America’s veterans as a petulant political ploy.
  • After that happened, many joked that they would drape Mt. Rushmore to prevent people from viewing it. Well guess what? They’re actually blocking off observation road views to preventing people from photographing it.
  • They’re ordered private businesses to shut down because they’re on public land, and even forced people out of homes on public land.
  • They’ve actually tried to have state parks shut down, just to spite people for not giving Obama everything he wants.
  • They disabled the Amber Alert website, despite the fact that it takes more effort to put up a notice than to leave the website up and running (if not updated). However, they left Michelle Obama’s wesbsite up, because that’s so much more important than kidnapped children.
  • Plus dozens of other petty, unnecessary actions that are blatantly geared toward inflicting as much pain on innocent Americans as possible:

  • These actions do not befit the President of the United State of America. Indeed, they do not befit a small town city councilman, much less the leader of the free world. He’s like a co-worker who didn’t get their way and who thenceforth makes life difficult for everyone in the office who disagreed with them out of sheer spite.

Further, when you consider that Obama didn’t let the shutdown close the golf course on federal land he wanted to use, it’s obvious that he believes that sacrifice is for other people. It’s impossible to imagine Ronald Reagan or either George Bush attempting to inflict pain on innocent Americans merely because they didn’t get their way, much less any of them insulting America’s veterans.

By his actions, Obama has proven himself a petty, spiteful, vindictive little creep who is unworthy being being President of the United States. All his mean-spirited attacks on common Americans should do is stiffen the spines of Republicans in congress, and convince them never to give in to his petty tyranny.

  • Harry Reid and Obama declare war on World War II Vets and cancer patients. Next up: Reid explaining why the shutdown requires them to euthanize kittens.
  • Obama deserves the blame for the shutdown.
  • Thomas Sowell: “There is really nothing complicated about the facts. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted all the money required to keep all government activities going — except for Obamacare…You cannot blame other people for not giving you everything you want. And it is a fraud to blame them when you refuse to use the money they did vote for, even when it is ample to pay for everything else in the government…When Barack Obama keeps claiming that it is some new outrage for those who control the money to try to change government policy by granting or withholding money, that is simply a bald-faced lie.”
  • The “only man to enroll in Obamacare” is an OFA shill. Also a liar. “Bill Henderson told me that both he and his son were interested in getting coverage, but that he had not enrolled in any plan yet, and to his knowledge, neither had his son.” Ace has the blow-by-blow dissection of Henderson’s story coming part.
  • The White House has 436 essential employees and 1,265 non-essential? Where do they fit???
  • You can probably tell what the Obama Administration thinks of you when you realize the number for ObamaCare information is 1-800-FUCKYO.
  • The people composing California’s elementary school math questions are evidently illiterate.
  • Pedophile pleads guilty, receives prison sentence.
  • Obama tried to have Wisconsin state parks shut down. Response: Get stuffed!
  • Park Rangers are actually being told to make life difficult for visitors.
  • Five reasons Ted Cruz deserves our respect.
  • British lefty: We have to talk about Islamic barbarism. (Hat tip: Ace of Spades.)
  • What’s so special about John Moses Browning? (Ditto)

  • Ted Cruz vs. ObamaCare

    Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

When I went to sleep, Ted Cruz was filibustering against ObamaCare.

I just woke up, and he’s still at it.

I’m in the awkward position of supporting Ted Cruz et. al.’s attempt to defund-via-narrow-procedural-filibuster-followed-by-Democrats-blinking strategy while also believing that the effort is almost certainly doomed to failure. The reason it’s doomed is that it requires complex (and somewhat counter-intuitive) Senate rule voting maneuvers, and for Harry Reid and the Democratic majority to give in on key points, which I think is very unlikely. Nor do I agree with the “repeal it now or we’re stuck with ObamaCare for all time” rhetoric. There are no lost causes in American politics, because there are no won causes. The Great Recession isn’t making Obama and the Democratic crony cohort any more popular, making a GOP takeover of the the Senate in 2014 (and of White House in 2016, very possibly by Cruz himself) increasingly likely.

But I do think Cruz’s filibuster is necessary because he’s making the case for repeal and forcing the GOP establishment to either back him or show their true colors. All signs point to ObamaCare becoming more and more unpopular as time goes on, making repeal a winning issue. But the first step is actually fighting for repeal, and Ted Cruz is there.

Here’s the opening of Cruz’s filibuster:

Rick Perry Trounces Maryland Democratic Governor O’Malley on Crossfire

    Thursday, September 19th, 2013

Texas Governor Rick Perry appeared on Crossfire yesterday, and by all reports he got the better of Maryland Democratic Governor Martin O’Malley.

Though not all of the episode appears to be on YouTube yet, you can judge for yourself based on what is available.

    Some fact checking here.

    Let’s Have A War!

Here’s Fear previewing Obama’s Big Adventure:

I’m Gonna Get Me A Shotgun And Kill All the Whiteys That I See!

    Monday, August 26th, 2013

Ayo Kimathi is an employee at the Department of Homeland Security. His job description? Purchasing ammunition and weapons. He’s also the owner of waronthehorizon.com, a website dedicated to advocating the murder of white people.”

The cherry on top? “He’s also a homophobe.”

This was on a lot of blogs last week, but I’m linking to it now so I can embed this classic SNL video of Garrett Morris singing “I’m Gonna Get Me A Shotgun And Kill All the Whiteys That I See!”, which I think embodies the spirit of Kimathi’s website.

Update: That video appears to be dead, so here’s one of Garrett Morris talking about it that includes just a snippet of it.

    Catchy little ditty, isn’t it?

    LinkSwarm for August 23, 2013

    Friday, August 23rd, 2013

Another Friday LinkSwarm on Friday, to make your Friday seem more like Friday:

  • Why work when welfare pays better?
  • Europe’s Jews fear that their days are numbered.
  • Ted Cruz: traitor to his class. From the number of MSM attacks on Cruz, they obviously see him as the biggest threat to derail Hillary’s coronation in 2016.
  • And since there was a little mini-boomlet of “Ha, conservatives must hate that Cruz’s given name is Rafael!” stupidity from the leftosphere, here’s a video that reminds you that Ted Cruz’s father Rafeal is all kinds of awesome as well:

  • Surprise, surprise, surprise! Greece will need another bailout.
  • Hospital called LICH just can’t seem to die. (Hat tip: Dwight.)
  • Well, this is lovely: The Department of Homeland Security employees a black supremacist preparing for a race war against white people and gays.
  • Forced sterilization of “mental defectives” returns to the UK.
  • Dear Jeff Bezos: Maybe the Washington Post could make more money if they didn’t alienate half their potential audience by hyping anti-Republican witch hunts.
  • Fail to wear a veil when you leave the house? That’s a dismembering.
  • “Bradley Manning Is Not a Woman. Pronouns and delusions do not trump biology.”
  • Foreign aid is destructive.

To improve the socio-economic development of Africa, the continent desperately needs private innovations, empowered by rule of law and an ambience of free enterprise, free of restrictive government regulations.Economic growth and development is indeed a vital ingredient towards achieving prosperity and a free society. However, it takes a spontaneous market driven approach without state interventionist barriers to achieve the noble aim, not foreign aid.

  • Remember folks: Partisan redistricting is perfectly constitutional. And Texas Democrats of it were masters of it for decades.
  • Sears posts $194 million loss. In other news, Sears is still in business.
  • Basketball statistician kills himself, and leaves behind meticulous suicide website explaining why he did it. One reason (among many others): “Economic collapse is inevitable (see U.S Financial to the left). The United States’ annual debt and cumulative deficit is way beyond the “out of control” label usually associated with it. It’s spiraling into oblivion and it will take society with it. Today the deficit is $16.9 trillion dollars with another $125 trillion of unfunded liabilities such as social security, medicare, prescription drug and federal pensions. It’s hopeless.”
  • What happens when rats have all their food needs met and are allowed to breed without restrictions? Social death followed by physical death. Though usually interpreted as an indictment of overpopulation, it could just as easily be about the the pitfalls of a purposeless life…
  • State Rep. (and Appropriations Committee chair) Jim Pitts will not seek reelection. Pitts, one of Speaker Joe Straus’ allies, recently was accused of seeking preferential treatment of his son at UT law school. Pitts was also one of the legislators pushing for…
  • The Impeachment of UT regent Wallace Hall for the crime of actually investigating wrong-doing, such as the law school slush fund.
  • Should Someone With Downs Syndrome be Allowed To Fight MMA?

    Monday, August 19th, 2013

Florida stopped a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight between two consenting adults because they have disabilities. Garrett Holeve is a 23-year-old with Down’s Syndrome, while 28-year-old David Steffin has cerebral palsy.

    Here’s a profile of Holeve:

Should Flordia allow an adult with Downs Syndrome to fight in an MMA event?

It appears on the surface that this is a hard case, given that MMA blows could reduce Holeve’s already diminished mental capacity. But it’s really not:

    1. Is Holeve a free adult citizen of the United States? If so, he’s free to make up his own mind.
    2. If Holeve is not a free adult, but is a ward of his parents, it is up to them to give their consent. As the above video makes clear, his father has determined that the benefits Garrett Holeve gets from MMA training and fighting (increased concentration and drive, greater physical well-being, etc.) outweigh the risk of injury.
    3. Only if Garrett Holeve were a ward of the state of Florida should that state get to decide what he should do with his life. That is clearly not the case here.

If I had a Downs Syndrome son, I probably wouldn’t enroll him in an MMA program. But Garrett Holeve isn’t my son, and it’s not my call to make. Nor is it that of the state. The job of the state is not to protect people from themselves.

    Let him fight.
