Another week, another week of bad ObamaCare news.
First off comes the National Small Business Association survey that shows that health care costs for small businesses have doubled since 2009. The “Affordable Care Act” turns out not to be affordable for anyone…
The new CBO report also paints a devastating picture of how ObamaCare will damage our economy through 2024, including:
Destroying 2.5 million jobs, by destroying incentives to work.
Leaving 31 million people in the U.S. without health insurance.
6-7 million additional people will lose the health insurance they already have (and I’m guessing that estimate is way too low).
It will reduce incentives for people to keep jobs (and The New York Times cheers).
Reduced paychecks for American workers.
Another bomb in the CBO report: ObamaCare subsidies are structured in such way that earning $1 more costs an extra $13,572 per year.
And the first CBO-based attack ad is already out (this one aimed at North Carolina’s Sen. Kay Hagan):

And here are some workers finding out that ObamaCare makes their insurance unaffordable:
“The ACA has been an unmitigated disaster since its passage.”
It doesn’t help that the ObamaCare enrollment numbers are grossly inflated.
Things aren’t much better in the state exchanges, either. Covered California 2013: “Sure your doctor is covered!” Covered California 2014: “Suckers!”
She’s not the only one. But it sucks when you have Stage Four cancer and suddenly your doctor is no longer covered:
There is one solution to this problem: Full repeal of ObamaCare.
Too bad there appears to be no limit to the damage (or deaths) Democrats are willing to let happen to avoid that…

This week’s most prominent example of baseless progressive accusations of racism come from an MSNBC tweet, now deleted, which claimed that the rightwing would hate a Cheerios ad with a biracial family. The tweeter was fired, but it’s just one in a long line of baseless accusations of racism and vitriolic hate from the Augean stables of MSNBC.
But the best part? More Republicans have mixed-race families than Democrats.
Using the logic liberals so often deploy, this “proves” that Democrats are more racist than Republicans.
On the same topic, here’s acerbic, articulate and frequently perceptive British atheist Pat Condell on the subject of progressive racism:

Another week, another flash mob of teenagers looting a store, this time in Bryan, Texas.
Once again, the video suggests that it’s an overwhelmingly (though not exclusively) black crowd.
You would think self-preservation would dissuade them from trying to rob someplace that obviously has video cameras…

Former Israeli General and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has died at age 85 after being in a coma since 2006.
While Sharon was a hugely important and influential political figure, I want to highlight his brilliance as a general. Israel’s swift and sure destruction of numerically superior Egyptian forces in the Sinai (with a total area significantly larger than Israel itself) under the leadership of Sharon, Israel Tal and Avraham Yoffe in a mere four days in 1967 are a big reason it’s called the Six Day War.

I thought I would do a better job of keeping tabs on Texas statewide races, but there are just too many for me to do a good job tracking all of them. Going into next year, I’ll try to do a decent job of keeping track of the Governor’s Race (Spoiler: Greg Abbot wallops Wendy Davis), the Lt. Governor’s race, and the Attorney General’s race, and tidbits on any other races will just be a bonus. (If you know of any sites doing extensive coverage of the Ag Commissioner or Comptroller races, let me know.)
Here’s a roundup that will include some oldish news.
The most hilarious liberal initiative in the Texas governor’s race has to be Lady Parts Justice PAC. No, this is not an Instapundit parody. Liberals have actually reduced half American citizens to their genitalia. “Ladies! Why think with your brain when you can think with your vagina?”
Wendy Davis hires out-of-state consultant to run her campaign. This is my shocked face.
On the Democratic side, Wendy Davis and a Reynaldo “Ray” Madŕigal have filed for governor (I’m assuming it’s the same Madrigal who pulled in 5.7% in a run for Corpus Christi Mayor in 2012) and outgoing El Paso Mayor John F. Cook is running for Land Commissioner.

Greg Abbott pledges to keep Texas budgets small.
Abbot and Davis wrangle over redistricting lawyers fees.
Davis is not ready for prime time. “All this leaves me seriously wondering whether Davis’ campaign has any chance of winning in 2014. Or worse: whether Davis didn’t take the Valley seriously enough to come here polished and ready and with her A-team. Surely this type of poor venue and repetitive shallow non-statements and unprofessional media handling wouldn’t play, in say, a Dallas crowd.” And that’s from a liberal Democrat.

The Texas Tribune does a roundup of the AG race, noting Paxton had won 6 out of 6 straw polls, while Dan Branch raised the most money (including a check from George W. Bush).
Meanwhile, AG candidate Barry Smitherman touts his right to life endorsements.
AG candidate Dan Branch vowed to defend Texas Voter ID Laws. I doubt that’s a differentiator among GOP candidate…
Branch also picked up a lot of business endorsements, including Texas Association of Builders’ HOMEPAC, the Texas Farm Bureau AGFUND, and the Texas Apartment Association. It was always pretty clear Branch was going to get the lion’s share of “moneybags PACs” endorsements…
Susan Combs endorses Glenn Hegar for Comptroller.
Sid Miller is running for Agricultural Commissioner, and he’s already wrapped up endorsements from Young Conservatives of Texas, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, and Ted Nugent.

One problem with defining the flash mob problem is conflicting reports on the severity of particular incidents.
Thursday there was a flash mob at Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Brooklyn. How bad was it?
According to the New York Post story linked above:
A wild flash mob stormed and trashed a Brooklyn mall, causing so much chaos that the shopping center was forced to close during post-Christmas sales, sources said Friday.
More than 400 crazed teens — who mistakenly thought the rapper Fabolous would perform — erupted into brawls all over Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Mill Basin on Thursday at 5 p.m., sources said.
The troublemakers looted and ransacked several stores as panicked shoppers ran for the exits and clerks scrambled to pull down metal gates.

“They were playing the ‘knockout’ game,” said Shante, a 21-year-old perfume merchant, in reference to a violent trend in which teens try to knock out an unsuspecting victim with a single punch.
However, this CBS NY report makes things sound pretty chaotic, but a whole lot less criminal:
“There were reports of minor damage and no store owners reported any thefts.”
Well either looting occurred or it didn’t, but you would think thefts would have been reported if stores had been “ransacked.” Did the “minor damage” consist of decorations being knocked over or windows being smashed?
All sources agree that some fights broke out (though video of that seems to have been pulled from YouTube).
There was also reports of black-on-white racial attacks in the same neighborhood back in October.
And what does The New York Times have to say? Either my Google-fu is weak, or a mini-riot at a mall in the city it ostensibly covers is simply beneath The Gray Lady’s notice, as I couldn’t find any online coverage.

Edited to add: Gothamist seems to have some non-embeddable videos off of Facebook. What’s shown there seems slightly on the “rowdy” side of the “rowdy/criminal” divide. I would have been concerned had I been there, but I didn’t see any window smashing or looting. Caveats on limited viewpoints and small sample sizes apply.
