Super Brief Post on Egypt

Sunday, June 30th, 2013

I don’t know what’s really going on in Egypt beyond the largest protests in the history of the world.

Your basic protest in the middle east doesn’t mean jack compared to guys with guns. But protests this massive change the scale of things. Mohammed Morsi isn’t popular with the army, which he hasn’t yet succeeded in Islamicizing. Protests this big are essentially giving the army the green light to take Morsi out.

Protestors have set fire to Muslim brotherhood headquarters, albeit incompetently, if this video is any judge.

Aim for the windows with the Molotovs, people, not the facade!

In addition to be an Islamist scumbag, Morsi has been a manifestly incompetent, nakedly-power-grabbing authoritarian. A lot of protestors are probably opposing the Muslim Brotherhood’s incompetence at governing rather than islamism per se. Michael Totten has noted that liberals (in the classical, Democratic sense) are a distinct minority in Egypt.

Oh, and all that “smart diplomacy” and speech-making from Obama? Thanks to his backing Morsi (with our tax dollars), Egyptians now hate us more than ever.

With demonstrations this massive, there are only three possible endgames in Egypt:

  1. Morsi steps down
  2. The army removes Morsi
  3. Civil war

Possibility #1 is unlikely, and Possibility #3 would likely be a bloodbath to make the Syrian Civil War pale in comparison.

So let’s hope Possibility #2 prevails. But I have no idea how likely that is…

Ted Cruz Fights Gang of 8 Illegal Alien Amnesty Proposal

Thursday, June 20th, 2013

Now would be a good time to call and email you Senator (and your Representative) to let them know you oppose the “Gang of 8” illegal alien amnesty proposal currently being debated in the Senate, especially since it does less than nothing to secure the border, and makes hiring illegals more attractive than hiring Americans, since employers need not pay for their ObamaCare.

Now would also be a great time to contact anyone you know at the national Republican Party and inform them that you will not donate a dime to any national GOP committee if illegal alien amnesty passes.

Here’s Ted Cruz speaking against the amnesty proposal on the Senate floor:

And on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show:

Ted Cruz on the NSA and Other Obama Scandals

Monday, June 10th, 2013

Currently working on a fairly large (and hopefully important) piece on the NSA scandal. In the meantime, here’s Ted Cruz on the scandal, and here he is on Glenn Beck discussing how the Obama Administration seems to view the Constitution as a “pesky obstruction.”

Obama Is Not A Crook!

Monday, May 13th, 2013

Or so he would have us believe. But the Obama Administration has been acting pretty Nixonian as of late.

First there’s how the White House lied about Benghazi, and how the CIA’s original talking points were altered to support the lie. (Exactly how those edits in talking points evolved can be found here.) And they’re still lying.

Then there’s the IRS scandal. Not only was the IRS targeting and auditing Tea Party groups, there were asking for a ridiculous amount of personal information. Like the names of family members and a list of all the members of the news media the group has ever interacted with. Then they released some completed comments to ProPublica before they had been approved, i.e., they weren’t public documents yet.

And here’s the IRS crew responsible.

Then there’s that whole getting all AP telephone records for two months thing.

Time even breaks out the Kleins in an attempt to poo-poo the very idea of Obama’s resemblance to Tricky Dick.

Indeed, Obama seems to be following the Nixonian blueprint far more effectively than Nixon ever could.

Of course, there is one big difference between Obama and Nixon…

Texas vs. California Update for May 9, 2013

Thursday, May 9th, 2013

Time for another Texas vs. California update!

  • It’s time for public employee unions to wake up and take a look around. Government services are shrinking, cities are crumbling, and they’re enjoying pay and benefit packages that many in the private sector would kill for. They need to give a little back…Because up and down the state of California, and beyond, public officials foolishly negotiated contracts they can’t pay for without taking a cleaver to basic services, including police and fire protection, park maintenance, street repair.”
  • California’s total government debt, at all levels, is estimated between $848 billion and $1.126 trillion. Funny how the word “trillion” crops up in reference to debt when Democrats are in charge of things…
  • ObamaCare is going to hit California harder than most states.
  • A group of California teacher’s has filed suit against the California Teachers Association for using their money for political purposes. You don’t say.
  • More on Compulsory California union “agency fees.”
  • The New York Times all but comes out and says that the LA Times is an extension of the Democratic Party. Which is why both the MSM and the Left are panicking that it might be sold to the Koch Brothers.
  • Average employee pay at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power rose 15% over the last five years, despite an economic slump that ravaged the city’s budget, records released Tuesday show.
  • In a rare spot of good news for California, their revenue are running just far enough ahead of schedule that they no longer need to make do with internal borrowing between state agencies. But I would suggest that this windfall will prove to be temporary…
  • Texas once again named the best state for business by CEO Magazine. And California was once again named the worst.
  • A tale of two oil states.
  • Raytheon moving HQ from California to Texas.
  • Texas doctors open up a new front against ObamaCare.

  • I’m Not at the NRA Meeting in Houston. But Ted Cruz Is.

    Friday, May 3rd, 2013

I couldn’t go to the NRA annual meeting in Houston this weekend, as much as I would have liked to, because I went to a family even in Houston last week.

But fortunately, Ted Cruz is there.

“The Constitution matters. All of the Constitution matters. You don’t get to pick and choose.”

This is EXACTLY Why We Sent Ted Cruz to Washington

    Tuesday, April 30th, 2013

Republican Senators have been yelling at Ted Cruz. At the top of their lungs, no less. “How dare you make me stand on principle???”

We won the gun control fight because Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul stood up for principle and shamed other Republican Senators into standing up as well.

We sent Cruz to Washington to shame Republicans into acting like Republicans. No, you don’t get to to betray conservative principles and expect us to keep donating and working for you merely because you have an (R) after your name. No, you don’t get to cave into Washington’s permanent liberal establishment without cost. No, you don’t get to enjoying fawning “strange new respect” profiles from the media without getting primaried. “You could just not be a bunch of squishes.”

Does anyone doubt that we’d now be seeing fawning profiles of Senator Dewhurst for his help in forging a “compromise” on gun control?

Rosemary Lehmberg: The Hits Keep Coming

    Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013

In a followup to yesterday’s video drop of Travis County’s Democratic DA Rosemary Lehmberg, we now have the dashcam footage of her DWI arrest:

Deputies couldn’t believe who they had stopped

2:10 in, hear her say “My career’s over.”

    Yep, pretty much.

    (Hat tip: Ramparts 360)

Someone in the Travis County Sheriff’s Office Must Really Hate Rosemary Lehmberg

    Monday, April 22nd, 2013

Otherwise they would have never released this video of Democratic Travis County DA Lehmberg, who plead guilty to DWI charges:

(Edited to add: Dead video clips replaced with single arrest video. – LP 10/14/19)

    Two More Boston Bombing Tidbits

    Friday, April 19th, 2013

Remember: Massachusetts has no death penalty. For Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to be executed, he’ll have to catch a federal charge.

Also, by way of IowaHawk, comes this oh-so-insightful take on who committed the bombing from NPR:
