Scott Adams on Kanye West and the Coming Golden Age

Wednesday, April 25th, 2018

This Scott Adams periscope is worth watching for his description of how President Donald Trump is breaking down our previous understanding of reality in North Korea, and a little bit on Kanye West.

I think Adams is placing more weight on Kanye’s statements than is perhaps warranted. But if President Trump can indeed convince a significant fraction of black Americans to step away from the victimhood mentality that has plagued their community for half a century, the repercussions could be tremendous. Even doubling Republican votes among black voters might be enough to keep Democrats out of the White House for the foreseeable future (assuming illegal alien amnesty and tranny bathrooms aren’t already enough to do that).

Update: Evidently this is no longer available on this Twitter embed, but you can still watch it here.

Pat Condell on Progressivism and Cultural Marxism

Sunday, April 22nd, 2018

Pat Condell nails modern progressivism for its naked intolerance.

If not for the spiteful underhand nastiness and shallow vindictiveness of the progressive mindset, the sanctimonious moralizing, the phony liberality the assumption of moral superiority, and the arrogance in that assumption, not to mention the instinctive recourse to deliberate misrepresentation slurs insults and maliciously slanderous labels in place of argument; if not for all that I wouldn’t have such a problem with progressives because, unlike them, I’m a liberal kind of guy.

Snip.

Try publicly advocating liberal values like freedom of thought, freedom of conscience, free speech, individual liberty democracy. secularism, civil rights; you know, the ideas of the Enlightenment, and you are guaranteed to be called a far-right extremist, a hate monger, a bigot, a racist, a fascist or a Nazi, yes, a Nazi, by progressives.

Condell seems to be refrencing either classical liberalism, or a form of liberalism that has became all but extinct in the modern world, replaced in tot by progressivism’s victimhood identity politics.

Progressivism is Marxism attempting to wear a liberal mask and failing. The militant Marxist and the militant progressive are birds of a feather. They have the same aims they share a common purpose.

Watch the whole thing.

Hurst, Texas House Explodes on Dashcam

And sometimes blogging is just “Whoa! I’ve got to post that!”

Story here. Thankfully, no one was killed, though one woman remains in the hospital.

Also this: “The driver was not hurt, but was taken into custody for not having a license, then transferred to federal custody on an immigration hold.”

U.S., France, UK Hit Syrian Chemical Sites

Friday, April 13th, 2018

President Donald Trump orders U.S. military to attack Syrian chemical weapons sites, in coordination with France and the UK.

Here’s President Trump’s announcement:

I’m on record as stating that the United States has no compelling national interest at stake in Syria after the destruction of the Islamic State. that said, anyone predicting that Russia is willing to risk World War III over Syria is having a case of the vapors.

It’s ironic that President Trump is the one actually enforcing Obama’s foolish “red lines”…

Edited to add: Tweet showing airstrikes in Damascus:

In the video it appears to have taken out the power grid.

Instead Of Actual Content, Enjoy Some Facebook/Mark Zuckerberg Congressional Hearing Memes and Links

Wednesday, April 11th, 2018

Here is a long, thoughtful essay on Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s appearance before congress.

Ha, just kidding! Work and taxes are sucking up all my time, so have a shotgun scatter of links, tweets and memes on the same subject:

According to sources from within Facebook headquarters, interns and staffers at the social network were training Mark Zuckerberg on how to act human ahead of his expected congressional testimony this week.

The team of employees instructed the Facebook CEO in disciplines like smiling without looking like a robot, laughing at the correct moment, and not calling everyone he meets a “pathetic meatsuit.”

“Try to blink every few seconds—no Mark, not that rapidly, that looks creepy,” one staffer said while teaching him how to respond to questions while appearing to be a real flesh-and-blood person with emotions and empathy. “Good, that’s—that’s almost passable, Mark. Great job. Now let’s work on getting rid of your vacant stare that’s obviously bent on world domination.”

Staffers also had to focus on the Facebook CEO’s vocabulary. Many of the interns present were forced to continually remind Zuckerberg not to use phrases like “you stupid dumb#$%^” and “flesh-covered weaklings” while addressing members of Congress.

“We didn’t have a lot to work with,” Facebook’s human behavior specialist told reporters. “He kept using terms like ‘assimilate all earthlings,’ ‘world conquest,’ and ‘everyone will die in a fiery death but I will go on.’ I think we’ve made a lot of progress, all things considered.”

And here’s Ted Cruz grilling Zuckerberg.

Welcome to the Progressive Utopia

Sunday, March 18th, 2018

Pat Condell brings the pith discussing progressives’ free-speech-free utopia:

“A whole generation has now been successfully taught not to value free speech the very cornerstone of our civilization but to hold it in contempt and to fear it to run from it to seek refuge from ideas in emotional safe spaces and to believe that hurting somebody’s feelings is a form of assault on a par with cracking their skull.”

“Rational argument, when it hurts someone’s feelings is, you guessed it, hate.”

Golden Interlude

Saturday, March 10th, 2018

Yesterday I had to have Jigsaw, my 14-year old Golden Retriever, put to sleep due to cancer. There will be a blog post forthcoming on my other blog in a day or two. In the interim, instead of politics, here’s a video of Golden Retrievers playing.

OK, we’ll make it ever-so-slightly political. Here’s Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s Golden Retriever Pancake getting a Christmas present and freaking out from happiness.

Love your doggies as much as you can while you can…
