Harrowing Story of Policewoman vs. “Gooned Up” Perp

Anyone still wondering how anyone could shoot an “unarmed attacker” should read this:

A West Virginia sheriff’s deputy has posted a harrowing account of her fight with a suspect on Facebook in order to, as she puts it, to give “a swift kick in the ass to a lot of cops.”

Brooke County Sheriff’s Deputy Kristen Richmond and three of her colleagues were called to Bethany College early Friday to respond to a report of a man throwing things out a third-floor dorm window. After they arrived, Richmond encountered 21-year-old Brandon Jackson, whom she said “was gooned up on an unknown drug.”

Richmond said she and Jackson fought for “about five minutes.”

“During said altercation, my glasses were shattered and knocked off my face, none of my radio transmissions got out, and a ton of equipment was stripped from my vest and duty belt,” wrote Richmond, who added that the suspect was not deterred by being partially handcuffed or being attacked by Richmond’s K9 partner.

“He wasn’t there. The drug had consumed every part of him,” Richmond wrote.

At one point, Richmond said Jackson “reached for my duty weapon” and credited her training for not using deadly force against him.

“I’ve been beat to hell and back in training so I knew how to react and fight through being repeatedly being struck in the face and head,” she wrote. “I didn’t freak out … I knew I was okay and still in the fight.”

Jackson was taken in handcuffs to a local hospital before being transferred to a facility in Pittsburgh, Pa. It was not immediately clear Sunday whether charges had been filed against him.

Most ordinary citizens don’t have the luxury of training in not using deadly force. If a “gooned up” thug attacks me while I’m legally carrying my firearm, my logical, life-saving response is to shoot him.

So, she prides herself om being a punching bag for a drug user? Wonder why there is no respect for LEO’s, it’s because of incidents like this. Ever wonder if he had managed to incapacitate you what havoc he could reek in the dorm now armed with your equipment? Or what the next officer that has to deal with him will have to go through now that he got away with this? Be proud!! You gambled the lives of your fellow officers, your canine partner, and all the occupants of the dorm so your SJW mindset could show.
    signed a retiired police officer

A similar incident happened in Chicago a year or so ago. The female officer, who was severely beaten, said later that she didn’t shoot her assailant because she didn’t want herself, her family, and her department dragged through the social justice meat grinder.
So, I guess you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Some years ago I read a study which compared lawful shootings done by male police officers to those done by female officers. Results showed that female officers were much more likely to shoot & kill the perp.

Some of the reasons given were: women cannot grapple with men. They have much less upper body strength, less musculature, less bulk; they aren’t built for fighting. So the female officers much more often have to resort to lethal force, as they have fewer options than men do.

Also for that same reason, many perps who would back off a fight with a male officer which they might well lose, will tackle a female since they see a good chance of winning that bout and getting away.

I’m all for equality, but it hurts me to see a beaten and battered woman who looks like she was pretty before her beating, who was lucky to escape with her life; and as Loki said above, everyone there was lucky that this drugged-out perp didn’t get her weapons and gear. I shudder to think how multiple murders would sit on her conscience, if she lived to regret being overpowered.

Maybe I’m just hopelessly old-fashioned but I do not think that women are suited for front-line police work (or for firefighting) since they just aren’t built for it. There are plenty of jobs in the PD or FD that don’t require fighting ability or skills, and I sure wish that women would do those jobs instead.

Sadly, we’ll have a lot more deaths and injuries since SJWs insist upon their insane ideas of “equality.”

This officer choose to endure a beating, that’s her choice. I wonder what she would say if the perp had tossed her out the third floor window? If it had been me I’d have drawn my weapon and asked him if he was feeling lucky.

It is only a matter of time.
