Ron DeSantis Unloads on Critical Race Theory

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis doesn’t mince words in announcing legislation to outlaw Critical Race Theory in schools:

One of the first tasks of opposing a poisonous ideology is to actually speak clearly about what it is, why it’s bad, and how it works, and DeSantis does all three in announcing the STOP Woke Act, which would allow parents to sue schools that try to impose Critical Race Theory, including calling out such CRT-speak markers as “white supremacy” and “equity.”

At first glance, if enacted, the lawsuit provision suggests that the DeSantis bill would have more teeth than the Texas anti-CRT bill Governor Greg Abbott signed earlier this year. Since Florida has Republican majorities in both houses, I would expect it to pass.

CRT and wokeism are the logical extensions of the ’64 Civil Rights act, and more importantly of civic nationalism and open borders. DeSantis and other white conservatives support the actual program of multiculturalizing America, they just stupidly balk at the inevitable results. CRT will be continued to be taught under different names because it has to be, the new population must delegitimize the old as part of the takeover of the country. In fact, it will get worse because budding third-world America will fail (is failing), and scapegoats will be needed to take the blame.

JohnB is delusional. CRT and wokism constitute lies, easily shown to be false, hence cannot be logical extensions of anything other than Marxism.

  3. Rick Caird says:

NO, NO, NO JohnB. CRT is not about civil rights. It is about dissension, false assertions such as the 1619 project and the promulgation of hate. Whereas we have spent 50 years working hard to promote racial harmony and equal opportunity, the proponents of CRT work hard to churn up dissension, hatred, riots for their own benefit. Rather than working across racial barriers, they raise more barriers and contribute to racial hate. They turn thugs like George Floyd into heroes and turn up racial hatred. Do you think the destruction of cities like Minneapolis contribute to peace and understanding or do you think it further aggravates the situation. BLM grows our of CRT and sets our nation back and not forward.

Good speech by DeSantis. I hope he runs for President. He has my vote already. I hate Critical Race Theory because it rejects reason, logic, and evidence in favor of assertions that all that matters is power based on hate for a despised ethnic group. Since all they care about is power, it is safe to assume that if they are given power, they will engage in evil actions. We need to stop the followers of CRT now, before this bad religion spreads.

  5. The Rev. David R. Graham says:

The Hanania essay JohnB summarizes and links is insightful and helpful. DeSantis is providing some of what Hanania identifies as needful: sound ideas for what to be doing now, today. Hanania calls finally for throttling back interpretations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I think that would be a half-measure. That act and some other obsolete doozies we all could name were better repealed and the structures of lawfare erected upon them collapsed into rubble. Morale is to materiel as three is to one. Character is to law as five is to one.

  6. John B., The Civil Rights Act was about ending segregation. Wokeism is about re-instituting segregation. Wokeism is only a consequence of the Civil Rights Act in the sense that it is a reaction against the Act and against the cultural changes that accompanied the Act.

What you are really trying to get across without being too explicit about it, is that if whites had held on to their racial privileges, then this reversal where everyone except whites have racial privileges wouldn’t have happened. In other words, you are endorsing pre-1960s white racism.

And not only that, but we have reached a milestone here in Florida. According to FL Secretary of State Election Division, as of 11/30/21, total registered voters:

    R 5,120,076
    D 5,095,008
    None 3,816,816
    other 353,020

First time EVER more Rep than DEM in Florida. So much for the tales of liberals from NY/NJ/New England invading the state. More like escapees from those places who were conservatives throwing in the towel about change in those places.

  8. Lawrence Person says:

Yes, I mentioned that in last week’s LinkSwarm.
