Rufo On Rogan: Democrats Destroying Democracy To Save It

I haven’t reported much on the farce of Democrats tearing through the thicket of law to get at their great devil Donald Trump, mainly because it is such a farce, but here’s Christopher Rufo on Joe Rogan discussing how dangerous and anti-democratic their blood vengeance crusade is.

  • Joe Rogan: “How disturbed are you by what seems to be this acceptance that people have for prosecuting political opponents?”
  • JR: “Because to me, it’s, regardless of what you think about Donald Trump as a human being and the polarizing figure that he is, setting the precedent of trying your political opponents to somehow or another, either put them in jail, or make them seem like complete total criminals in a way that would, for the casual, for the person who’s not reading deep into the headlines.”
  • JR: “The casual Democrat that sees this Trump real estate thing that just happened, where he got fined $365 million. I’ve seen people argue ‘fraud is fraud and this is that and he’s a fraud,’ and then I saw Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank explain this is what every real estate developer does.”
  • JR: “They say ‘My building’s worth $400 million,’ and then someone comes along from the bank, and they say ‘No, it’s worth $300 million. We’ll give you a loan on $300 million’ or whatever.”
  • Christoper Rufo: “It’s negotiation.”
  • JR: “People overvalue their property all the time. [Someone] has a house and it’s worth $700,000, they decide to list it as $900,000.”
  • Plus the lunacy of a leftist judge saying Mar-a-Lago is worth only $18 million, when a more realistic valuation is well over $1 billion.
  • CR: “We have a democratic system that favors Trump, in the sense that he won in 2016, he’s winning the primary right now for republicans in 2024.”
  • CR: “But you have a bureaucracy that is dead set against him. And the rhetoric amounts to a very odd claim. They essentially say: ‘We want to keep him off the ballot, we want to put him in prison, we want to bankrupt him so he can’t become the president, even if the people support him. We want to deprive the people of making the decision.'”
  • CR: “So you want to take it out of the realm of politics and into the realm of administrative justice or the criminal justice system, and adjudicate it in that way on bogus pretexts.”
  • CR: “Who actually rules in this country? Is it the American people who get to decide by their vote who represents them in the government? Or is it the permanent bureaucracy that has accumulated so much power?”
  • CR: “I’m of the mind that the people should decide, not the bureaucracy. And this is a contest where Democrats are saying essentially we have to destroy democracy in order to save democracy.”
  • Evidently there’s no undemocratic Rubicon Democrats won’t cross, no bridge they won’t burn, to destroy democracy in the name of saving it from Orange Man Bad.

Prosecuting political opponents is now the norm for the Left. The GOPe won’t because all that they want is to peacefully submit to the Left. We no longer live in a constitutional republic under the universal rule of law. As we continue to devolve, rest assured that Times will become Interesting.

This era has all too many parallels with the late Roman Republic. The modern Boni are tearing the system apart in order to retain their positions, and are in complete ignorance of the fact that what they’re actually doing is destroying it. They think that their efforts are basically harmless, but the end result is going to be what happened to the Romans.

Not sure who out Caesar or Octavian is going to be, but the parallels are definitely there.

    3. Xennady says:

My, uhm, favorite aspect of Trump getting prosecuted because he overvalued his real estate is pondering the value my local authority assigned to my property for tax purposes.

That assessed value well exceeds the price I could sell it for if I put it on the market, and quite obviously so.

Somehow no fraud charges are inbound for whomever made up that number, because, reasons.

    4. Kirk says:

Well, yeah… That’s the way things go when civilizations crash: Selective prosecutions for the enemies of those in power.

Observe what happens when the shoe is on the other foot, is all I say. The oligarchy quite clearly thinks that these rules will never be used against them. Ever. It’ll be interesting to watch the forensic accountants going in on all of them…

Forget “auditing the Fed”, I want to see them audit all the politicians: Where does all that money come from, that has a life-long Senator worth as much as Joe Biden is? How’d his family get wealthy? What did they do to earn all that money? How did Nancy Pelosi and her family get so wealthy?

My take on it? You ought to leave your career as a politician with exactly what you took into it, no more, no less. Audit the bastards, and if they’re a penny wealthier? Take it all; beggar the bastards and all their immediate family.

When it comes time to pay back that 40 trillion dollar debt, all that money is going to have to be clawed back from the assholes that spent it. Every nickel, every dime… Take it back. And, if it means selling their kids into the sex trade? So be it; sell ’em. Need to make an example for the ages, here.

It’s no more than they’ve done to the rest of us, that’s for damn sure. Wait and watch what the effects are of all this illegal immigration on your quality of life; we’ll all be living in walled compounds and afraid to go out, before long. Just like white farmers in South Africa, living like debt slaves to the system while their pet barbarians roam freely and unprosecuted.

Some folks wonder why I call Democrats “DemCong”.

    6. PBAR says:

I wonder how much of this is the leftie Boomers panicking because the glorious collectivist/statist revolution they dreamed of since their college days was within their reach after Obama and then Trump came along and screwed it all up. Now they realize they might not live to see it.

    7. Kirk says:

Naah… The Viet Cong were mere patsies, marks who fell for the con pulled on them by the North Vietnamese Communist Party. Go back and look at what happened to them after the invasion in ’75: What few survived Tet and the following years went up to the NVA, expecting laudatory comments and rewards? LOL… They got shipped out to the re-education camps faster than former ARVN members.

The assholes running things today, in government? Small-timers, feckless morons who will be expended at need. The people you need to be looking for are their actual paymasters, the ones further back in the shadows. Someone made the money fall on the Biden Krime Krewe and the Pelosi Mob; those are the people you should be worried about. Our Congressional parasites are merely tools, suitable for nooses, yet not actually the real criminals. Their crimes are mostly being morally lax, and easily manipulated. The real criminals are the ones like Epstein, who play entirely behind the scenes.

“This era has all too many parallels with the late Roman Republic.”

Actually a little earlier: Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus and his brother, Gaius Sempronius Gracchus circa 123 BC:

      https://thecritic.co.uk/the-roman-republic-is-worth-thinking-about/

Both were killed by patricians, the elites of their day. Their supporters were killed outright or convicted in kangaroo courts and then killed, just like today’s J6 hostages will be.

The attacks on the Gracchi bought the Roman elites another 80 years and it took 12 more civil wars to end the Republic.
