There’s video of would-be Trump assassin Cole Allen breaching the Secret Service’s security perimeter by literally running past it.
Those agents don’t seem to be on top alert when the latest disgruntled Democrat come sprinting at them down the corridor, do they?
Here’s a screenshot I took of a Washington Post diagram:

Had he made it down the steps he would have been in the ballroom with President Trump.
So we have an assassination attempt through a Secret Service checkpoint that came very close to being defeated by running, preceded by an assassination attempt where the would-be shooter used a range-finder, then climbed up on an unsecured roof in full view of cops, and nobody did anything about it.
Something has clearly gone very wrong with the Secret Service, either through infiltration or sheer massive incompetence. Trump needs to appoint somebody to do a radical, top-to-bottom overhaul of this agency, on par with the efforts of other Trump appointees to overhaul their ancient, inefficient and corrupt agencies.
I would suggest hiring someone who’s ex-military and who understands how to set up a defensive perimeter, as this task seems to be beyond the capabilities of our current Secret Service…
Update: Within minutes of posting this, Not The Bee sent out a piece in which would-be assassin Allen notes how incompetent the security is there.
what the hell is the Secret Service doing? Sorry, gonna rant a bit here and drop the formal tone.
Like, I expected security cameras at every bend, bugged hotel rooms, armed agents every 10 feet, metal detectors out the wazoo.
What I got (who knows, maybe they’re pranking me!) is nothing.
No damn security.
Not in transport.
Not in the hotel.
Not in the event.
Like, the one thing that I immediately noticed walking into the hotel is the sense of arrogance.
I walk in with multiple weapons and not a single person there considers the possibility that I could be a threat.
The security at the event is all outside, focused on protestors and current arrivals, because apparently no one thought about what happens if someone checks in the day before.
Like, this level of incompetence is insane, and I very sincerely hope it’s corrected by the time this country gets actually competent leadership again.
Like, if I was an Iranian agent, instead of an American citizen, I could have brought a damn Ma Deuce [M2 Browning machine gun] in here and no one would have noticed sh*t.
Actually insane.
Indeed.

Well, that’s just one source (the “alleged” shooter) that might be biased. Let’s go to Powerline for a different first-hand account:
https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2026/04/eyewitness-to-an-attempted-assassination.php
“I had anticipated a very long security line and about an hour wait to enter the hotel. I brought my paper ticket and my passport identification. To my surprise the security was lax, to put it lightly. Wearing my tux, I walked in the front door by flashing the paper ticket. There was no code to be scanned and I never once was asked for my ID.”
[snip]
“Trump was right in praising the agents on site were amazing in keeping us safe and restoring order. But this was clearly a major security breakdown on multiple levels. It was easier to get into the Hilton to see the president and to get 30 feet from him than to attend a Wizards basketball game down the street.”
Between this and the “screwup” in Butler you kinda hafta wonder if maybe the Ultra-Deep-State in the USSS is playing a game with the lives of POTUS and FLOTUS, and the rest of the list of succession.
Think of Allen’s tactic as surprise, not running. Surprise is an effective tactic and in these situations only defeated by a defense in depth. The layout of the Washington Hilton does not allow for much depth, particularly against an individual who has rented a room therin.
Bear in mind that the SS is not being funded as an organization due to the shutdown. Individual agents are being paid wages from prior appropriations, but the organization as a whole has no money to spend on supplies or security due to the Democrats’ shutdown. So their security efforts are sub par.
Or, the Secret Service is now like every other government agency, all theater, security theater, homeless service theater, education theater. Don’t do your job, just dress up and pretend to be a grown up.
It’s all government is now. We pay actors and think they are actually workers.
@10x25mm Secret Service security efforts are sub par due to lack of funding? How do you explain the Secret Service performance at the other two fully funded assassination attempts? In this instance, shots fired and Vance is physically removed instantly while President Trump kept on display. Why?

“[Cole] Allen 31, was allegedly brandishing the Mossberg Maverick 12-gauge when he rushed toward security inside the Washington Hilton hotel in DC on Saturday night.”

The Mossberg Maverick 88 – Top-Folding Stock model has a 39.5″ OAL, making surreptitious deployment problematic. Perhaps you meant to imply that a security agent would be surprised that a man who was brandishing a shotgun in.an upscale hotel would parade past him in plain sight, eschewing his Ninja powers of invisibility.
From the Mossberg website: Maverick 88: the utility player of pump-action shotguns. Affordable and reliable, these DIVERSE MODELS are equally up to task, from combing through the woods to handling home security duty (and presumably equally suited to raiding a gala event).
Kudos to Cole Allen for flexing his diversity in making this purchase. If he had chosen a UNITY MODEL he risked being insufficiently progressive with the collective known as “The Wide Awakes”.
If I were a guest at the hotel, I would not stay there if my bags were searched, there was armed security and my room was bugged. We are still a free society. If I were the hotel, I would not allow an event that required that much security for a long period of time.
Military security is not any better than any other security. Remember the Marine barracks in Beriut that killed over 200 Marines, the Afghan withhdrawal where 13 died and the Fort Hood killings and may others.
I wonder how many who have commented on the security have ever stood guard duty. I have for about 100 nights in Vietnam. My greatest worry was not the all out assault but the lone soldier who could get within 25 yards and then either shoot me or run by me. I knew I could not react quickly enough to stop him.
Look at the posted video. Allen first appears at the nine second mark, is by security at the 13 second mark where he disappears from view. From the reaction of the guards, it looks like he is down by the 20 second mark. About 11 seconds from beginning to end.
In a free society, it is impossible to provide 100 percent security for anyone.

The Biden SS was administered by DEI incompetents who have mostly been cashiered or fobbed off into less demanding positions. Many lower level incompetents have not yet been removed due to civil service protections.
Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned in 2024, amidst intense criticism of the Secret Service following the attempted assassinations in Butler, Pennsylvania and West Palm Beach, Florida. The current Director of the United States Secret Service is Sean M. Curran, who has been in office since January 22, 2025. Curran was in Trump’s protective detail at Butler and WPB, but not in charge. Trump seems to have a lot of confidence in Curran.
The loss of organizational funding means very little training of SS officers and managers is going on. Critical in an organization which has undergone significant turnover. SOCOM’s secret weapon is relentless training. The SS can’t buy supplies or repair equipment thanks to the commie rat bastard Democrats. Even transporting agents to training sites is prohibited, The commie rat bastard Democrats have used bureaucratic legerdemain to facilitate the assassination of Trump and conservative U.S. Supreme Court justices during the pendency of the Dobbs decision.
The only fault in this incident was the presence of Trump, Vance, and Speaker Johnson in the same immediate locale. The President and the next two in line of succession. No one has taken responsibility for this and responsibility may lie with one or more of the principals.

A reasonably healthy American male in his thirties should be able to run a 40 yard dash in 5 or 6 seconds. Human reaction times to danger typically range from 1 to 3 seconds, depending upon preparedness. Then it takes about 2 seconds to draw a pistol when you are wearing civvies.
So surprise will get you 40 yards or so in these circumstances.
“A reasonably healthy American male in his thirties should be able to run a 40 yard dash in 5 or 6 seconds”” running on carpet in street shoes and carrying a 40″ shotgun, lop amirite?
From Wikipedia (yes, I know):The Tueller Drill is a training exercise that demonstrates how quickly an attacker armed with a melee weapon can cover a distance of 21 feet, typically in about 1.5 seconds, which is roughly the same time it takes for a defender to draw and fire a weapon. This drill emphasizes the importance of situational awareness and the need for quick reactions in self-defense scenarios.
If the Secret Service cannot train to this standard, they should be disbanded and replaced with a more competent response team.

Wikipedia fails to take into account aggressive DA’s and Democratic politicians ready to string up law enforcement officers for even minor mistakes. This ensures hesitation on the part of law enforcement officers until they are absolutely certain of what is occurring or risk their jobs and freedom. The only immediate reaction they can take is shield the principals with their bodies, something which occurred here.
It also takes considerably more time than 1.5 seconds to draw and aim a pistol concealed under a suit jacket, in Level 2 and 3 retention holsters. Not the setup you wear to the range on your play days.
The officers also have a duty to take a clear, safe shot in the vicinity of a crowded ballroom that doesn’t endanger innocent dignitaries. This all takes time, and repetitive training which has been denied to the SS for 72 day.
There are several differences between actual combat and LARPing a Tueller Drill, or the other theoretical practice games. The real world is not neat and tidy like range games.
You would be well advised to read ‘The Principles of Scientific Management’ by Frederick W.Taylor, a 1911 book which lays out the principles of time-motion studies. Then go on to the studies of Frank Bunker Gilbreth, Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. They will add a little depth to your shallow analysis.
“You would be well advised to read ‘The Principles of Scientific Management’ by Frederick W.Taylor, a 1911 book which lays out the principles of time-motion studies.”
I one breath, you denounce the Tueller Drill for being a reductionistic Time and Motion study and with the next breath endorse Taylor’s reductionistic Time and Motion studies.
Your intellectual schizophrenia is evident to everyone but you.

‘It’s Looking Like the WHCD Secret Service Officer Was Shot by Friendly Fire’
By Jeremy S • April 29, 2026
The one protective officer who got shots off was uniformed, not suited. The suits were tangled up in their jackets after a late start.
The uniform shot four or five times, too quickly, and appears to have shot one of his fellow officers. The perp was really moving. Just like a sporting clays rabbit at point blank range. The uniform probably did not lead sufficiently, and he certainly did not consider his backstop.
I did not “denounce the Tueller Drill for being a reductionistic Time and Motion study”. I dismissed it because it does not represent the circumstances which occurred. Time-motion studies are always valid in these situations. Pat games are not.
The Tueller Drill does not encompass the first several seconds of this situation, the recognition of danger. You can clearly see this in Jeremy’s photos. The uniform made the perp before he reached the magnetometer frame, the suit did not because he was watching a different direction (which is good practice when you don’t know where a threat will come from).
The Tueller Drill is not realistic training for, nor a good representation of, this situation because you know there will be a threat, you know where the threat will be, and you are assured of a safe backstop.
Avail yourself of the four shot photos in Jeremy’s post and you will better understand why the Tueller Drill is not germane here.
There is a surefire way of disrupting Cole’s attempt of assassination. Just put your foot in front of him to trip him.
