Asmongold has compiled a few video clips of the pure product of America’s union-dominated educational system, and oh boy do things look grim.
I’m a little more forgiving of the “read this sentence off a card” failures. Yes, educated people should know words like “epitome” and “gauche,” but I’m willing to chalk those up as college words not everyone will have been exposed to. But not being able to name a single continent? Not know how many miles you’ve traveled in one hour at 60 MPH? Thinking Obama’s last name is “Care”?
The American educational system has failed every single one of these people…
To be fair, some of them are of such low intelligence that educating them is impossible (not that it was even tried, of course).
“Why is it that they aren’t in school? We have a big problem when we graduate people out of high school that shouldn’t have graduated middle school. That’s the issue.”
I very much wanted to teach school. Even though I was not an education major, I prepped six week for the Praxis exam. My score was 194/200.
When I announced this result to my alma mater’s education/placement center they confirmed that it was the outcome they wished had been produced by one of their own department graduates that year.
“So you’ll arrange for me to get interviewed along with the education majors?”
Much foot shifting, hemming and hawing…
You see, the “issue” is not that kids are being poorly educated; it’s that those who want to help them run up against the bigotry of educators who want to exclude anyone without an education degree from the teaching field. It would put their sinecure at risk.
There are “educators” in the classroom who are unable to pass the Praxis exam after repeated attempts and wisdom-endowed teachers who are kept from practicing their avocation to the detriment of student, parent and civil society alike.
The First Rule of Teaching is that the teacher must know that which he would teach; the First Rule of Bureaucracy is that in any bureaucratic organization, there will be two types of people: those devoted to the goals of the organization and those dedicated to the organization itself. The latter group tends to gain control and influence over the organization.
Inarguably, it is the latter group who is firmly in control and the results are everywhere evident.
