“Do You Know Who I Am?” 2025 Edition

I was just going to include this one in yesterday’s LinkSwarm, but then I watched the video and, yeah, this needs to be its own post.

Rhode Island Assistant Attorney General Devon Hogan Flanagan and friend Veronica Hannan, “a senior manager at Pepsi who calls herself a ‘champion of diversity in STEM,'” became disruptive at Clarke Cooke House, a Newport restaurant, and were asked to leave.

Did they leave?

They did not.

Police were called. Did they leave when the police asked them to?

They did not.

Instead, they put on a “Do you know I am?” display for the ages.

Some highlights:

  • Demanding police officers turn of their bodycams.
  • Yelling “I’M AN AG” 11 times. “Buddy, you’re gonna regret this.”
  • Refusing to leave.
  • Resisting arrest.
  • Resisting being putting in handcuffs.
  • Resisting being put into the police car.
  • All in all, it’s the most blatant show of a drunk, entitled female bureaucratic functionary since Austin DA Rosemary Lehmberg got pulled over for DUI.

Given that Rhode Island is a deep blue state, I bet you can guess what political party she’s part of.

Flanagan is currently on unpaid leave.

    1. Malthus says:

They act like this because there are no consequences, e.g.,

February 2019 drover her car off I-76 into a ditch
Rebecca consumed alcohol before the accident
When Officer Rhodes opened the door to Rebecca’s car, he noticed vomit inside the car and a strong odor of alcohol
When asked by Officer Rhodes “How long have you been drinking?”, Rebecca responded by saying “I’m Becky Doherty. I’m a judge.”
After advising a witness to the accident that he was free to leave, Officer Rhodes noticed that Rebecca was standing in the snow alongside the driver’s side door of her car. When he asked her name again, she said, “Becky Doherty. I’m a common please judge in Portage County.”
When Rhodes administered a field sobriety test by having Rebecca walk up the embankment to the side of the road, she was unsteady and almost fell multiple times
While waiting for officer assistance, Rebecca told Rhodes she had to go to a funeral the following day “for one of her kids.” When queried about the funeral for one of her kids by Office Rhodes, Rebecca responded by saying, “I’m a judge, I’m a common pleas judge
After Rebecca told Officer Rhodes she was ready to walk the side of the road, he advised her he was waiting for assistance to help her up the embankment, which caused her to state, “Do you know who I am?” Officer Rhodes replied, “Yeh, you’ve told me you’re a judge about four times.”
When an officer exited the booking area, Rebecca followed him stating she wanted to go home. When the officer said she could not leave, Rebecca raised her voice, stating, “Oh my God, fucking take me home.”
Pled guilty to driving under the influence (DUI), a first-degree misdemeanor
Sentenced to three days in jail and fined $475, along with a one-year suspension of her driver’s license..

Only drunk with power, Monroe County, NY (Rochester and suburbs) DA interacts with local police.
      She has resigned, eventually.

Just think, before bodycams and the internet this might have worked.
